WHAT IS "NO KINGS"?
iies. is not observers of culture—they are participants, responding in real time to political fracture, economic pressure, and the emotional toll of modern America. Rooted in experimental jazz rap, the group blends complex rhythms, live instrumentation, and narrative-driven lyricism to explore perspective as both a musical and philosophical concept.
Their forthcoming album, Love Is Cutthroat, examines how devotion—whether to a country, ideology, ambition, or survival—can turn destructive when stripped of empathy. Across the project, love is portrayed not as comfort, but as a force that demands confrontation, accountability, and risk.
The single “No Kings” stands as the album’s most confrontational moment. Written in the shadow of the early-October No Kings protests and an increasingly volatile political climate, the track channels public frustration into clarity rather than chaos. Built on a heavy drum-and-bass foundation with aggressive guitar textures, the song’s direct lyrics are meant to provoke engagement—not outrage—forcing listeners to confront the systems shaping their lives.
